Who is the mischievous Marley Mole?
Hi, I am Marley Mole! I am your helper in detecting information about
the mysterious field of archaeology at the World Archaeology Festival
2015!
I have heard some people say my appearance is not that attractive
and I am always blamed for wrecking lawns by digging my tunnels (ooops,
sorry I didn't mean to do that)! Although I may make a bit of a mess, my
powerful forelimbs and large paws are perfectly adapted for digging…
and sometimes do favours for archaeologists too!
I usually discover underground archaeological sites first but I don't mind
sharing the credit with these disruptive, two-legged guys. Sometimes I
even play quiz games with the small two-legged ones who don’t shout
at me when I dig up a few flower beds! The bigger people can map the
location of the sites buried underground by examining the objects I
handily dig up and leave in my mole hills.
Aha, teaming up with archaeologists is marvellous! As my archaeological
partner I would also like to leave you some clues to investigate the "past".
You can look for me around the institute dressed as a field archaeologist,
a time detective, a Victorian coal miner, an artist, an ancient Greek, a
World War II soldier and a Griot (someone in traditional Mali dress).
Come to the World Archaeology Festival to be a time detective with me!
We’ll explore the unusual and exciting world of archaeology and sort
out how archaeologists know what they know about the past!
Marley x
